The Portuguese American Civic League of Bridgeport, Connecticut has firmly believed in the higher education amongst the Portuguese community it serves since its inception in 1967.  Our strength depends on future generations and has been committed to helping college-bound students of Portuguese descent and their families. 

Over the years the Civic League was able to award thousands in grants to over 100+ college-bound students.   This was made possible through the generosity of local businesses and personal donations.

• The minimum age of admittance to membership is twenty-one years of age.

• The wife or husband of a Portuguese- American may also be eligible for membership, though not of Portuguese extraction or origin.

• Potential members will be interviewed individually by the selected screening committee.
